From a coaching inn in the time of Maria Theresa to a beloved restaurant by Janko Kráľ Park – Leberfinger is a place where history meets hospitality.
On the island of Enger-Au (present-day Petržalka), the first foundations of settlement were established – farming homesteads, a church, forester’s lodges, and an important route that later became the Vienna Road.
During the reign of Maria Theresa, a roadside inn was established in Petržalka, where travelers could find accommodation, meals, and care for their horses.
The inn was managed by Carl Turbilio, who paid the town 20 gulden annually. It is recorded on Marquart’s plan from 1765.
After the regulation of the Danube, a public park was established next to the inn, further increasing its importance.
French troops occupied Petržalka. After the peace treaty was signed in Vienna, life returned to normal, and the inn continued its operation.
Owner Andreas Rosins significantly enlarges the building; its new form is documented on the plan from 1820.
An arena was added on the riverbank, and the park’s style changed to an "English" one – a freer, more natural appearance.
The inn’s owner pays the town 300 florins and 15 kreuzers quarterly. The inn serves as the center of recreation for the residents of Bratislava.
Every Saturday, a stagecoach departs from the inn to Hainburg. The inn often changes owners but remains a popular destination.
The opening of the bridge over the Danube brings new visitors on foot and by carriage.
The building is officially registered and bears the name Leberfinger. A new chapter begins under this well-known name.
Historical photographs capture Emperor Franz Joseph’s visit right at the inn.
During the uprising, the premises were damaged, but the inn was soon restored to its original operation.
The town extends the lease without competition – Leberfinger has managed the inn flawlessly since 1895.
The Leberfinger family continues to run the inn, which has earned a great reputation. Emil Bohúň remembers the plum dumplings, and Ján Smrek recalls the "miraculous kitchen."
The WEST Theatre Civic Association completely renovates the building to its present-day form.
Leberfinger Restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere for family and business gatherings, featuring an ice cream bar and a children’s play area.

A restaurant that breathes history. Leberfinger is a large, spacious restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. In addition to the regular menu, they also offer seasonal dishes. The service is very friendly and caring. We ordered the asparagus soup from the seasonal menu, and it was delicious. For my second course I had the pork medallions in bacon with potatoes and mushroom sauce. I was quite disappointed with this dish, the meat was dried out, the whole dish was bland and unsalty. My friend had the veal perpetto with gnocchi, it was tasty. The prices are proportional to the location, less proportional to the quality. Still, it is a good restaurant, suitable for family celebrations and for larger parties. anna (ankakl)2025-05-09Trustindex overuje, že pôvodný zdroj recenzie je Google.
